Charitable Donations - FAQ

  • Does Rockway issue charitable receipts for donations?
    Yes. Rockway Mennonite Collegiate is a registered charity and issues charitable receipts for valid donations over $10.
  • Who gets the charitable receipts?
    Charitable receipts for donations are issued in the name of the donor as it appears on their cheque.
  • Does Rockway accept donations of goods in addition to money?
    Yes. Please see the Gifts in Kind page for more information.
  • Does Rockway accept donations of vehicles?
    Yes, in certain circumstances. Donated vehicles can have 2 purposes:
    • Provide a real-world experience for students in the Tech programs to learn how to perform repair work on a vehicle.
    • Allow students to restore a vehicle to salable condition. These vehicles are then re-sold with all proceeds returning to the Tech program for supplies and equipment. See the Gifts in Kind page for more information on vehicle donations.
  • Does Rockway accept donations of stock or property?
    Yes. Please contact our Director of Development to discuss these donations. With the current changes in tax laws, there are significant advantages to making donations of stock directly to a charity.
  • When will I get my charitable receipt?
    Receipts are mailed to donors each time a donation is made.
  • I lost a receipt. What can I do?
    Contact our Business Office to request a duplicate receipt.
  • Can I designate my donation?
    Yes. We currently have the following available designations:
    • Operating (our general budget)
    • General Bursary Program (provides assistance to families with financial need)
    • Envirathon/Servathon - a student fundraiser. Students get pledges and then they spend a day working at environmental or service projects in our community.
    • Golf Tournament - sponsor a golfer - proceeds go to the Operating budget
    • Facility Fund - for facility enhancements including new additions or renovations
    • Other events (Christmas and Spring concerts etc)
